Raymond J. Morin, 79, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday June 26, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. He was born in Sanford on June 17, 1937 a son of the late Henry and Annette (Drouin) Morin. In 1955 he enlisted and served four years in the US Air Force.He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after 25 years of service with the company. A 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus he was also a member of the Cursillo Movement. After his retirement from the shipyard, along with his wife, Claire they built a home in Myrtle Beach where they resided for 11 years returning to Sanford last year. He enjoyed playing tennis and loved to play the piano and his keyboard not only for his own pleasure but for the enjoyment of close friends and family.He was very proud of his twin grandsons and enjoyed playing mini golf with them.He is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Annette as well as his stepmother, Elsie.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claire (Cote) Morin of Sanford, one daughter, Donna Ouellette and her husband, David of Sanford, twin grandsons, Jacob Ouellette of Sanford, Joshua Ouellette and his wife, Sarah of Sanford, step grandchildren, Kevin Ouellette and his wife, Erin of Topsham, Heidi Gilpatric and her husband, Jason of Kennebunk, step great grandchildren, Alex and Natalie Ouellette and Abigail Gilpatric, one brother, Paul Morin a resident of Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehab.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
