Blanche M. Morin
Blanche Marier Morin, 95, of Sanford, died on September 18, 2010 at her home.Blanche was born Westbrook on September 17, 1915, the youngest child of Joseph and Alice (Fredette) Marier. She grew up in Westbrook and attended local schools. She graduated 10th in her class from Westbrook High School. After graduation Mrs. Morin worked at the S.D Warren Paper Mill as a punch card operator. She often said that her job was quite possibly the beginning of the computer age. In 1941 she married Joseph L. Morin and the couple spent the next 66 years together. They resided most of their married life in Portland where they raised six children. Their retirement years were spent in Naples, FL where they enjoyed the warmth, sunshine and their many new friends. Six years ago they moved to Sanford to spend their twilight years with their family.Mrs. Morin was a devout Catholic. She spent her life caring for her children and her husband. Her favorite time of year was the fall. She enjoyed music and became an accomplished violinist in her younger years. She and her brother did a radio show in which her brother played piano and she would accompany him on the violin. Mrs. Morin and her husband traveled the world extensively. She had a great sense of humor and a very optimistic outlook on life. Her strength in dealing with life's challenges was extraordinary. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Mrs. Morin was predeceased by her husband, Joseph L. Morin; her son, Stephen Morin; her daughter, Julie Morin Pochebit; her brothers, Bob, Roland, Mike, Leo and George Marier and her parents, Joseph and Alice Marier.She is survived by her son, Paul Morin and his wife Suellen of Cape Elizabeth; her daughters, Cheryl Desmond and her husband Daniel of Portland, Anne Tarling and her husband Erny of Sanford, Celine Pochebit and her husband Stephen of Medfield, MA; her brother-in-law Gerry Morin and his wife Pauline; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Morin's family would like to thank hospice for their comfort and support.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 25th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church located on Payne Street in Springvale.
