Merlin L. Menard

Merlin L. Menard, 75, of Sanford and recently of Farmington, Maine, passed away on Friday July 29, 2011 at the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. She was born in Oquossoc on April 25, 1936, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Erma (Bachelder) Nile. She graduated from Stratton High School in 1955.For 22 years she had been employed in the laundry and housekeeping department at the Sanford Nursing Home also serving in the capacity of supervisor. She enjoyed square dancing and loved to tend to her gardens. She loved the outdoors and deer hunting. A long time member of the Maine Fish and Game Department she received recognition for a report written years ago. She is predeceased by a very close friend, Albert Eaton who passed away in 1996, one sister, Patricia Pettingill who passed away in 2000.She is survived by her children, Bonnie Menard of Wells, Robin Menard of North Berwick, Roberta VanHouten of West Newfield, Timothy Menard of Farmington, ME, Kelly Menard of Stratton, Gale Menard of Milton Mills, sisters, Margarite Grant of Alabahma, Barbara White of Springvale, Iola Ellquist of New Portland, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.A funeral service will take place on Friday at 3PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
