Beatrice Libby Meader

Beatrice L. Meader, 98 years old, of Springvale, ME died Saturday, December 3, 2005 in Sanford, ME.Beatrice was born in North Waterboro, the daughter of Osborne Cyrus and Fannie Maddox Libby. She was a 1925 graduate of Ethan Stone High School in Newfield, ME, and a 1925 graduate of the Gorham Normal School and began a teaching career that spanned 43 years, the first 3 in Shapleigh, ME and the next 40 in Sanford, ME. She retired from the Sanford school system in 1970.Beatrice was an active member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church. From 1970 to 1990 she served as treasurer of the Sunday school. Beatrice was a life member of the Day Spring chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the York County Retired Teachers Association. She also volunteered for over 20 years at the Old Timers Shop in Sanford.Predeceasing her was her husband Waldo in 2000.Surviving is a son Terry Meader of Springvale, and two granddaughters, Kristin Meader, and Jennifer Pomerleau.A 10:00 AM memorial service for Beatrice will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale, ME.To leave messages of condolence please visit www.blackfuneralhomes.com
