Paul B. McKenney, 79, of Sanford, died peacefully at home on October 18.He was born in Saco on March 7, 1933, the son of Ira B. and Ella (Huppe) McKenney, Sr., attended Saco schools and was a 1950 graduate of Thornton Academy.Paul served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.After his service in the air force, he returned home and was employed briefly with the Saco-Lowell Shops in Biddeford. He then worked for 24 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop 38. After retiring from the navy yard, he worked for The Colony Hotel as the recycling manager at their locations in Kennebunkport and in Delray Beach, Florida. Upon retiring from The Colony, he and his wife Phyllis continued to winter in Florida in Boynton Beach, where they were active in the social activities of the retirement community in which they resided. Paul was also an avid bowler.He was an active member of St. Ignatius Church and was the State Director of the Cursillo Movement from 1971 to 1976.Paul was a loving husband, grandfather and dad who was very proud of his 5 girls.Predeceased by his daughter Therese Marie McKenney in 1965, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Grenier) McKenney of Sanford, 5 daughters, Karen Hebb and her husband Alan of Sanford, Renee Morin and her husband Robert of Biddeford, Sandra Kittridge and her partner William Smith of North Berwick, Judee McKenney and her partner John Huard of Sanford, Diane Saucier and her husband Raymond of Sanford, 2 brothers, James McKenney and his wife Eleanor of Saco, Ira B. McKenney, Jr. of Rochester, NH, a sister, Pauline Geinger and her husband Bud of Oregon, 10 grandchildren, Courtnee and her partner Ashley, Kayla, Gregory, Lily, Alison, Brittany and her husband Josh, Cody, Jade, Gabrielle and Julianna, several great grandchildren and in-laws, Russell Goodwin of Lakeland, FL and Robert Goodwin and his wife Mary of Billerica, MA.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27 at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish at Holy Family Church, 66 North Avenue in Sanford.
