Jeanne Mathieu

Jeanne Mathieu, 91, a lifelong resident of Sanford, died August 12 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford after a long illness.She was born in Sanford on June 8, 1926, the daughter of Philippe and Aldea (Poirier) Thibodeau, and attended Sanford schools.Jeanne worked at Universal Shoe for several years, retiring to raise her family. She had been a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Church.She was predeceased by a son, Michael Mathieu.Survivors include her daughter, Diane Dumont and her husband Daniel of Berwick, 2 sons, Richard Mathieu and his wife Elizabeth of Dover, NH, Daniel Mathieu and his wife Olivia of Hagerston, MD, a sister, Claire Snell of Augusta, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesay at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
