Donald A. Martin

Donald A. Martin, 84, previously of Waterboro, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Pinnacle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sanford. He was born one of twelve children to the late Benjamin and Ethel (Burgess) Martin on February 11, 1936 in Vinalhaven, Maine where he grew up and attended local schools graduating from Vinalhaven High School in 1956. He married Reinette Poisson on March 29, 1961. The couple resided in Waterboro for over 40 years until recently moving to the Sanford-Springvale area.Donald was a parishioner of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Limerick, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.He was employed by WestPoint Stevens in Biddeford for 22 years and retired from there in 2000.To pass the time, he enjoyed watching wrestling and the Boston Red Sox on television. He also liked going for walks and spending time his family.Donald is predeceased by siblings Carl, Herbert, Albert, Benjamin Jr., Paul, Marilyn, Dotty, Frances, and Hildred.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Reinette Martin, his son Michael Martin and his wife Vicki of Sanford, his daughter Sherry Lanoie of Louisville KY, grandchildren Mara and Zackary Lanoie of Louisville, KY, Brandon and his wife Katherine of Saco, and Tyler and his wife Alexis of Sanford, a brother Abbot Martin and his wife Bobbie and a brother, Louis Martin, all of Vinalhaven.A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, at 11:30 A.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
