John A. MacKay
John A. MacKay, 52, of Sanford, ME died unexpectedly on Monday, July 29th at Maine Medical Center in Portland.John was born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 30, 1960 to Kenneth and Frances Reardon MacKay. He grew up in Melrose and attended local schools, graduating from Melrose High School in 1978. In 1985 he married Leslie Abbott and together they shared 28 years of marriage, raising three children. John and his wife relocated to Maine in 1987. In 1991 he went to work at Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick where he was employed until his death.John was a devoted family man. He enjoyed spending time with his children and was involved in coaching his son's sports teams. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially going boating and playing golf. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed rooting for all of the Boston teams. John was an outgoing, fun-loving man with a great sense of humor and many friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.John was predeceased by his parents and several aunts and uncles.Surviving are his wife, Leslie Abbott MacKay of Sanford, ME; three sons, John (Alex) MacKay, Jr. of Sanford, Abbott K. MacKay of Sanford and Albert J. Mansolilli of Haverhill, MA. In addition, a brother, Kenneth E. MacKay of Malden, MA; uncles and aunts, Neil and Priscilla MacKay of Wellesley, MA and Bruce and Rosemary MacKay of Yarmouth, ME. He is also survived by his father and mother-in law, Bryce and Beverly Beattie of North Berwick, ME a sister-in-law, Lauren Lloyd of Lowell, MA; a brother-in-law, Paul Abbott and Jannie Durr of Waterville, ME; and beloved friends, Edward McCarthy and Kelli Matos of Revere, MA, Gary and Joanne Belinsky of Westford, MA and Kevin and Cathy Neely of Sanford, ME, and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 4th at the Carll-Heald & Black funeral Home located at 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME.
