Thomas Logan Mack, affectionately known as "Big Mack," "Sunshine," and "Mottie Guard" by his friends and family died suddenly and peacefully at home of a massive coronary event on July 24th, 2013.Thomas was born July 30, 1986 in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in Kennebunk and was a 2004 graduate of Kennebunk High School. Tom attended the University of Maine at Orono where he studied history and education. He was working on completing his degree at the time of his passing, with plans to pursue a career in education. Tom's goal was to make a difference in the lives of children. Tom was a hard working team player and a committed employee, most recently working in the restaurant industry. He was well known by his family, friends and co-workers for his enthusiasm, light, sense of humor, gentleness and compassion toward others. in everything he did, Tom loved people and life. Tom's passions were reading, learning, watching classic movies, Westerns, Star Wars and Star Trek. Tom was also an avid outdoorsman where he spent much of his spare time fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and exploring. One of his favorite places to enjoy the outdoors was in Friendship, Maine, where he spent some of the happiest days of his life.He will be eternally loved, missed and remembered by those who knew him. Tom was pre-deceased by his father Danny Joe Mack and his paternal grandmother Ethel Mack. He is survived by his mother and step-father- Suzanne and Larry Healey of Springvale, one sister Danielle A. Mack (McTiny, Wombat, Little Pister) , one step-sister Victoria Healey, two step-brothers Michael and Spencer Healey, his maternal grandparents Charles and Odette Friou, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the Mack family, Kent family and Fudge family, close friends Michael Nataupsky, Jeremy Cyr and Brett Conway and his two cats Finn and Gin. A celebration of Tom's life will be held on his birthday, Tuesday July 30th at 1 PM at the Messiah Christian Church in Wells. His final resting place will be in Friendship, Maine where his ashes will be scattered at a later date. Donations in Tom's memory may be made to Outward Bound of Maine.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
