Bernice M. Low

Bernice M. Low, 87, of Sanford , died June 20 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford after a brief illness.She was born in North Berwick on September 12, 1920 the daughter of Roscoe P. and Rosilla (Libby) Allen.She had been employed as an executive secretary at the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills. She then worked for many years as a legal secretary to John B. Roberts, Esq. in the law firm of Roberts, Shirley & Humphrey in Springvale.Mrs. Low was a very active member and former organist at the Sanford First Baptist Church, where friends described her as generous and charitable.In 1984, she married T. Merlin Low and they traveled extensively. Although their marriage lasted only eight years until his death, she described those years as the happiest of her life.Survivors include a stepson, Holland Low and his wife Cecile of Brunswick and Summerville, SC, step grandson Jason Low of Cary, NC, step granddaughter Korin Lester of Chesapeake, VA and several cousins.A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Virginia Gass will officiate.
