Therese N. LHeureux

Therese N. L'Heureux, 84, of Sanford, died January 21 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.She was born in Hartford, CT on December 26, 1928 the daughter of Oscar and Jeanne (Mercier) Allard. She came to Sanford as an infant and attended Holy Family School.She had been employed years ago with the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills in Sanford.Mrs. L'Heureux lived for her family. They confided that she was the June Cleaver of mothers: a devoted woman who loved and nurtured her kids and met all of their needs, was meticulous about her appearance, loved to bake and tend to her flower gardens. She loved playing games, particularly outdoor lawn games with her grandchildren and was a competitive card player who played not necessarily for fun, but to win.She was a longtime communicant of St. Ignatius Church.Her husband, Arthur N. L'Heureux, died in 2000 and a son Gary L'Heureux died in 1971.Survivors include her daughter, Priscilla McNally and her husband John of Sanford, son Guy L'Heureux and his wife Patricia of Alfred, son Jean L'Heureux and his wife Diana of Springvale, sister Annette Sevigny of Springvale, brother Richard Allard of Hudson, NH, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 1 at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish at Holy Family Church, 66 North Avenue in Sanford. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery.The family wishes to express its appreciation to Dr. Harendra Patel, Dr. Teresa Breault, Dr. John McGuckin, Dr. Brian Kaufman, their staffs and the staff of Goodall Hospital for the extraordinary care shown to Therese and to them through these past days and years.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
