Bernadette M. Levesque, 90, of Sanford, died at her home on Monday, March 7, 2016 surrounded by her family.Bernadette was born in Springvale on August 19, 1925 to Frank and Mary (Cormier) Melanson. She grew up in Sanford where she attended Holy Family School. In 1946 she married Ernest Levesque and together they raised 10 children and shared 48 years of marriage until his death in 1995. Bernadette always put her family first and foremost in her life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and made it a point to pray the Rosary daily. She had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish. Bernadette enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, making crafts, going shopping and reading. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Bernadette was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Levesque, Sr.; two children, Raymond Levesque and Linda Davin; a granddaughter, Cynthia St. Jean and three siblings, Anna Beaulieu, Mathilde Levesque and Robert Melanson.Surviving are eight children, Donald Levesque of Sanford, Nancy St. Jean and her husband Carl of Lyman, Elaine Hartley of Sanford, Sandra Morin of Manchester, New Hampshire, Ernest Levesque, Jr. and his wife Lori-Ann of Sanford, Steven Levesque of Sanford, Mark Levesque and his wife Sandy of Limerick, and Susan Guillemette and her husband Jeffrey of Sanford; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Levesque of Sanford; three siblings, Alberta Sevigny of Springvale, Doris Jalbert of Sanford and Laurie Melanson of Sanford; a special niece, Rita Mailhot of Sanford, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 12th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
