Alice M. Legere

Alice M. Legere, 97, of Sanford, passed away on Monday October 29, 2012 at the Newton Center. She was born in South Portland on August 27, 1915 a daughter of the late Edmund and Celeste (Doiron) Legere. She attended South Portland Schools.A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Parish, she regularly attended daily mass, and was a member of the Sodality of Mary. She was a nonjudgmental and friendly personFor many years she was employed in the shoe shops working at Universal Shoe and retiring from Corey Shoe.She never had children of her own but embraced her nieces and nephews as well as their spouses as her own. She enjoyed cooking and baking. In her younger years she enjoyed music and dancing. She always looked forward to the holidays because of all the family celebrations and gatherings.She is predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.She is survived by one sister, Lillian Guillemette of Springvale, one brother, Freddie Legere of Westbrook, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
