Mildred J. Leary
Mildred J. (Mulvey) Leary, 96 of Acton, Maine formerly of Dedham, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018 after a brief illness. "Millie" was born in the Mission Hill area of Boston on August 23, 1922 to Robert and Mary Mulvey. She attended Mission Hill grammar and high schools. She worked as a cord board operator at New England Telephone Co. She married Raymond E. Leary on Nov. 30, 1946 and had 3 children. She returned to work once the children were in school and rose to the level of supervisor until she and Ray retired and moved to Maine. Millie was always very busy; with work, caring for family or at their camps. An avid snowmobiler, she was the Secretary of The Mousam Valley Snowmobile Club for over 20 years, and a longtime member of St. Therse of Lisieux Catholic Church in Sanford, Maine. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Ray Leary, sisters; Rose Lynch, Elizabeth Mulvey, Margaret Comeau, Madeline Mulvey and her brother, Frank Mulvey.She is survived by her sons; Richard and wife Muriel Leary of Bedford, Massachusetts, Kenneth and wife Teresa Leary of Marstons Mills Massachusetts and daughter Karen Maples of Buxton, Maine, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday January 5, 2019 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine.
