Annette A. Laferte, 89, of Sanford, died on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Hillcrest Gardens in Sanford.Annette was born on November 16, 1924 to Abdias and Laura (Sevigny) Cantin in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools. Annette worked at Aletta Dress Shop in Springvale for several years after she finished school until she left to raise her family. She also provided childcare for several years out of her home.Annette was a devout Catholic. She had been a communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved holiday gatherings with her family, especially at Christmas. She will be remembered as a happy woman who was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Annette was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Laferte and by a grandson, Todd Howard.Surviving are six children, Claire Thibeault of Sanford, Rachel Howard and her husband Gary of Buxton, Anita Noel of Springvale, Yvette Meunier and her husband Mike of Sanford, Gerard Laferte and his wife Dorothy of Lebanon and Irene Houde and her husband Brian of Sanford; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sr. Marie-Ange Cantin, OSU of Lewiston and Bertha Cantin of Springvale; two sisters-in-law, Rita Cantin of Sanford and Doris Cantin of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 on Wednesday, July 9th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford, interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hillcrest Gardens as well as the hospice workers for the care and compassion shown to Annette during her period of declining health.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Hillcrest Gardens Activity Fund, 35 July Street, Sanford, ME 04073.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
