Robert E. LaCourse, 42, of Sanford passed away on October 18, 2020 at his residence after a long illness.He was born on January 17, 1978 to Susan LaCourse and Robert Chambers in Biddeford where he grew up and attended local schools. He graduated from Biddeford High School in 1996 where he participated in Track and Field and held the record until 2001 for running the fastest mile in 4 minutes 25 seconds. Being a proud Marine was a large part of Bob's identity. In 1999 Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served for two tours in Iraq. His troop was one of the first to arrive in Baghdad following 9/11. He was discharged as a Sergeant after nearly four years.He was employed for a time at Pepperell Mills in Biddeford and for many years at Shaw's Warehouse until his health prevented him from doing so.Bob enjoyed running, playing basketball and especially loved fishing. He also loved spending time with his niece and nephews.He is predeceased by his grandparents Sylvio and Germaine LaCourse and his father Robert Chambers.Survivors include his mother Susan LaCourse of Biddeford, two sisters, Jessica LaCourse and her significant other Mark Roy of Sanford, and Melissa LaCourse and her significant other Justin McKechnie of Springvale, four nephews, Jayden, Bricen, Elijah and Evan, one niece Alawna, many aunts and uncles including Robert R. LaCourse and his wife Nathlie of Old Orchard with whom he was close, and many cousins.A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 30 at 11:00 A.M. at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 82 Stanley Rd., Springvale.To leave a message of condolence click tab at left.

  1. It’s crazy to say but his two sisters…he didn’t have a wife or girlfriend when passing…but he was sure,to always have an open ear…to then try his best to make sure he was here for us;his sisters and our kids,he held close to his heart ;for he had none of his own!!!

  2. Bad times…good times and straight up even if u had a bone to pick with him…he’d fine away to make light of the situation….that was his way of apologizing.As a big brother at times does

When I was 8 yrs old,he;my big brother,decided to take me down a small hill on a skate board,even though our mom told him not to.To stay in the yard…he said s she won’t know…we’ll sure enough ..we were going faster then expected…even though he stopped us from crossing the street into head on traffic….his end results we’re heading to the hospital with his thumb nail cut off and a broken thumb at that..with a Scar to remind him!
