Monique Lachance
Monique V. Cabana Romine Lachance "Nickie", 79, of Sanford, died April 27 at home after a long illness.She was born in Sanford on January 3, 1937, the daughter of Emery and Laurette (Demers) Cabana. She was a graduate of Sanford High School and attended Nasson College in Springvale.Over the years she worked in several capacities at various places of employment, including local dress shops, shoe shops, as manager of the VFW, as a school bus driver, at Sprague Electric, as a greeter at Wal Mart and as a receptionist at Goodall Hospital.Nickie enjoyed travelling, having visited 15 different countries and was always interested in how the inhabitants of these different nations lived.She was a Notary Public and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Other interests included walking on the beach, attending yard sales, fishing, cooking and cook outs. Her most enjoyable activity however was spending time with her sons, granddaughter and brother and sister in law, especially around the holidays.She was predeceased by her son, Douglas P. Romine in 1988.Survivors include her son Dennis T. Romine of Sanford, granddaughter Alix Burbank of Sanford, brother Phil Cabana and his wife Carol of Springvale, and several cousins.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
