Lucia Knight
Lucia E. Knight, born on April 25,1957 passed away Friday Aug. 22, 2014 at the age of 57 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and those she loved.Lucia was born in Portland, ME to Arthur G McLean and Mary W. McLean. As a daughter of a decorated Marine, she split her childhood between N. Carolina and Brunswick, ME.She met the love of her life and soul mate, Lewis (Huck) Knight and they married in May of 1975.She was proud and unapologetic for the privilege of being a stay at home mom where she prepared a loving home for her husband and children and those that proudly called her "Grammy".Lucia enjoyed volunteering at The Salvation Army during Christmas and other times during the year. Anyone that has ever met her knew she loved anything to do with Christmas. Whether it was Black Friday shopping with her girls, or making cookies with her grandchildren, see enjoyed the season. Nothing seemed to bring her more joy than watching those she loved unwrap the gifts that she had picked out for them.If you happened to stop by her home, there was a good chance you'd be invited into her ongoing poker game. She had the habit of even giving you the money to play a hand just so she could enjoy your company. She always enjoyed spending time with her best friend and sister in law, Kathy Knight.Lucia was preceded in death by her mother and is survived by her husband of 39 years; Four children: Mary Wakefield of Sanford, Dennis Knight and his wife, Susan Knight of Salem, MA, Sara Knight and Pamela Knight, both of Sanford; 11 grandchildren: Austin, Jade, Dennis Jr., Jaime, Emily, Kimberly, Tyler, Kaylee, Michael, Riley and Luke.She is also survived by her father, Arthur McLean; two brothers: Arthur and his wife Prudi and John McLean; sisters: Kathy Bernier, Kathy Lowell, Nancy Riley, Robin Peters. Linda Lord along with many nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
