Harry W. Kenney, 70, of Sanford Maine well respected businessman and proprietor of P & E Supply Company in South Sanford, died Friday June 25, 2004 after a long illness.He was born March 8, 1934 in Westbrook, Maine a son of Robert and Christina Cumming Kenney and attended local schools. Harry joined the U.S. Navy serving aboard the battleship USS Wisconsin and the USS Newport News during the Korean Conflict. He served as a machinist mate. Following his tour of duty with the Navy, Mr. Kenney worked as a plumber for many years in the Danvers, Massachusetts's area. His willingness to learn and his good business sense, made him a self made man. He and his family moved to Sanford in 1972.Mr. Kenney owned and operated P & E Supply Company for over 27 years. He was more than willing to help area contractors; plumbers, heating technicians, and homeowners with useful and practical guidance when purchasing plumbing or heating supplies. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club both of Sanford. He was very involved with the Chit Chat Club - a chemical free club for families. Harry loved puzzles, playing card, working outdoors on his tractor and puttering around in his gardens. Folks will remember his weekly Spade card games. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Donna (James) Kenney of Sanford; Harry was formerly married to Carol (Brusso) Kenney; together they had eight children which include four sons, Gregory Kenney and Paul Kenney of Sanford, Mark Kenney of Newburyport, MA and Matthew Kenney of Amesbury, MA; four daughters, Dori Chouhad of Somerville, MA; Elaine Taylor of Saco, ME; Pamela Letourneau of Sanford and Melissa Kenney of Webster, NH.Also, 5 Stepchildren: Robert Foster of Westbrook, ME; Richard Foster of Alexandria, NH; Rae-Lynn Gallant of Waterboro, ME; Michael Foster of Gorham, ME and Lawrence Foster of Somersworth, NH. One sister: Roxie Poitras of Danvers, MA. Also, 22 Grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 3 nephews and 1 niece.His brother predeceased him: Malcolm Kenney.
