Raymond Ray Jowett
Raymond "Ray" Arthur Jowett, 75, of Sanford, passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2018. He was born on August 21, 1943 in Sanford, Maine, to the late Doris Jowett and the late Arthur Jowett.Raymond graduated from Sanford High School in 1962. From 1962 to 1967, Raymond served in the Air Force in the Vietnam War and he also worked in the Greeting Card industry as a shipping receiving clerk at Renaissance until he retired in 2000. Raymond is survived by his sister, Linda Jowett Dunham, her husband Larry Dunham, his brother, Arthur "Hoppy" Jowett Jr; his cousin, Stanley "Skip" Jowett and wife Priscilla and his best friend David Pray and wife Sharon. He loved his family, his friends, card playing and golf. He is loved and will be missed by his extended family, the Pray's. He will also be missed by his Sunday cribbage buddies. Raymond also loved Notre Dame and day trips to Foxwoods to go gambling.He was a member of Lafayette Social Club, Elks Club, American Legion, Wolf's Club, and Knights of Columbus. The family invites donations in Raymond's name to the American Cancer Society. A graveside service with military honors will be held on November 16 at 11AM at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery located at 83 Stanley Rd, Springvale.Friends and family members are invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 17 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sanford Elks Club, 13 Elm St, Sanford 04073.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
