Mary Fall Jones, 95, a life long resident of Sanford, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mary was born in Sanford, the daughter of Frank Fall and Rose Hutchins Fall. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1932 and went on to attend Nasson College. She graduated from Nasson with a degree in Home Economics in 1935. In 1937 she married Ralph B. Jones of Lebanon. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanford, active in the York County Cooperative Extension Service, and a Girl Scout Troop leader. Her greatest joys centered on family and home. She enjoyed passing on her love and expertise in baking, sewing and needlework to the younger generation. Mary was well known for the dozens of Christmas cookies she baked each year for family and friends. Her home on State Street was the gathering place for reunions, holidays, and family summer vacations.Mary was predeceased by her husband Ralph B. Jones in 1971 and by her brothers, Ward M. Fall, Arthur R. Fall, and Robert F. Fall. She is survived by her children, Faye Jones Denniston of Sanford, Richard Jones and his wife Mary Ella Jones of Poland Spring; four grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Denniston of Vernon, Connecticut, Katherine Jones, Evan Jones and Tucker Jones of Poland Spring. Mary is also survived by a sister, Grace Fall Brown of Burlington, North Carolina, a sister in law, Ruth P. Fall of Sanford, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 1 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, followed by interment at Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford.
