Donald "Don" Jalbert" passed away in his sleep early Sunday morning, December 18, 2016 after battling leukemia for over a year, congestive heart failure, and a recent stroke.He was born in Sanford on April 3, 1941 to Armand and Yvonne (Beauchesne) Jalbert, where he grew up and attended local schools. He joined the Army in 1959 and wad was stationed in Arizona in 1960. He was honorably discharged in 1964.During his working life, he worked at Jagger Mill and then went to work at American Cyanamid which became Cyro Industries for 38 years. During his time at Cyro he was on the Fire Brigade.His hobbies included doing woodworking and carpentry and he also enjoyed Lionel trains.He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, George and Roger Jalbert, and two sisters, Anita Bunker and Jeannette Doiron.Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Jalbert, a son, Ronald Jalbert and his partner Karen Veilleux, a son Dennis Jalbert, a daughter Katherine Toth and her husband John, five grandchildren, Amanda Lish and her husband Justin, Justin Jalbert and his fiance Shawna Garmon, Ashlin Jalbert, and Matthew and Michael Toth, and four great grandchildren, Darren and Domanick Ireland, Arianna Jalbert, Emma Lish and a sister Pauline Butler.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 29, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 30, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family Church of St.Therse of Lisieux Parish, 66 North Ave., Sanford followed by a burial at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
