David L. Iles
David L. Iles, 77, of Wells, passed away at his home on January 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.David was born on August 11, 1940 in Sanford, the son of Lawrence and Thelma Iles. He grew up in Sanford and graduated from Sanford High School. After graduation he attended Husson College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. David married the love of his life, Joyce Gerry and together they raised two wonderful children, Susan and Steven.David honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. During his service he was stationed in Southeast Asia, Okinawa and Thailand. Upon returning to the United States he was stationed at the Underground Pentagon at Fort Richie, Maryland.Following his discharge David attended the University of Maryland while Joyce taught school in Bladensburg, Maryland. He worked as a Contracts Administrator for a subsidiary of NASA during and after college. In 1969 the family returned to Sanford where he accepted a position at Sprague Electric as a cost analyst and eventually division materials manager.David was a member and served on various boards at the Ogunquit Baptist Church for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling, but his passion was his family. He was at every event any of them were involved in.David was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Janice Tuttle; his niece, Tammy Tuttle and his nephew, Danny Tuttle.Surviving are his wife, Joyce; his son, Steven and his wife Kristin; his daughter Susan and her husband John and his grandchildren, Andrew Iles, Taylor and Pierce George, Ashley and Zachary Benuck and bonus granddaughter, Hillary Jackson. He is also survived by his namesake, David Tuttle of Seymour, Connecticut.Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 with a memorial service following at 1:30 on Thursday, January 25th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A celebration of his life will be held immediately following the memorial service at the Oak Street Bistro, located at 3 Oak Street in Alfred.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Ogunquit Baptist Church Elevator Fund, P.O.
