Cecile Hughes

Cecile R. Hughes, 88, of Peabody, MA, passed away on Friday December 17, 2010 at the Kennebunk Nursing Home in Kennebunk, Maine. Born in Kedgwick, New Brunswick, Canada on May 24, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Bridgette (Gallant) Gagnon.When she was 18 years old she moved to Salem, MA with her family. She retired from the Salem Hospital with 25 years of service where she had been employed as a dietician. After retirement she continued to work and volunteered at the Peabody Community Life Center along with her late husband John Hughes. Together they took part in variety shows that traveled all over the North Shore singing and dancing for senior citizens. She was also a member of the Peabody Drill TeamShe is predeceased by her first husband, Raymond Jalbert, second husband, John Hughes, daughter, Shirley Jalbert.She is survived by two sons, Raymond Jalbert and his wife, Sandra of Sanford, David Jalbert and his fiance Noelle of Topsfield, MA, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren,seven great great grandchildren, sisters Irene Sandoval of Beverly, MA, Rachel Gaudet of Beverly, MA, brothers, Alfred Gagnon of Salem, MA, Donald Gagnon of Kedgwick, Canada, Roger of Rochester, NH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial mass will be celebrated on January 9, 2011 at 11AM at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Salem, MA.
