Alida G. "Hilda" Hodsdon, 80, of Sanford, died September 23 at her home.She was born in Springvale on January 15, 1928, a daughter of John and Eleanor (Lamarre) Guertin and attended Sanford schools.Hilda was employed with the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills until they closed in 1954. She later worked for 23 years as a cashier at Jerry's Market in Sanford, retiring in 1994.She was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. She served as a Cub Scout Leader for Den 319 for 19 years.Family members lovingly recalled her as fun, generous, a wonderful big sister and caretaker, and one who loved the simple acts of walking, reading, talking and going camping.Hilda was predeceased by her husband Richard A. Hodsdon in 1979, and by two brothers, Roger Guertin and Zoel Guertin.Survivors include her son, Robert L. Hodsdon, his wife Lynne and their sons Adam and Matthew of Sanford, 3 sisters, Fernand West of Westbrook, Mugette Crowley and Muriel Martin both of Sanford.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 30 at 11:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
