Mildred L. "Millie" Hill, 78, of Springvale, died November 28 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford a lengthy illness.She was born in Biddeford on August 30, 1933, the daughter of Armand and Carrie (Eastman) Camire. She grew up in Kennebunk and was a graduate of Kennebunk High School.She lived in Florida for a time and was employed with the Florida Yacht Club in Jacksonville. She returned to this area and was employed with Alcon and then with Cyro Industries, retiring from there several years ago. While an employee with Cyro, she enjoyed participating on the Cyro Bowling Team.Millie's life centered around children. She was "Gram" to a slew of children, some of them related to her and many not. She followed the school and athletic exploits of them all and babysat many of them. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens.Millie was a communicant of Notre Dame Church.She was predeceased by a son, Scott Sampson, in 1990.Survivors include a son Richard Sampson and his wife Edith of Arizona, daughter Sandra L. Hill of Springvale, son Michael Sampson and his wife Ann of Shapleigh, son Robert Sampson of Sanford, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren (with another in the oven as Millie was fond of saying), untold numbers of her "adopted grandchildren" and her dog Yoko.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Notre Dame Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Springvale. A luncheon will follow in Bishop Cote Hall in Springvale. Burial will be private in Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
