George M. Hicken

George M. Hicken, 92, of Springvale, died November 24 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.He was born in Newburyport, MA on September 3, 1914, the son of Charles B. and Ida May (Mieneith) Hicken.During the 1930's he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Alfred.He was employed with the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills until they closed, then he went to work for Arlen Box Co. in Kennebunk, retiring from there many years ago.He was particularly fond of the White Mountains and had ascended Mt. Washington 45 times.His wife Marguerite Hicken died in 1982.Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra Grant and her husband Anthony of Wells, Susan Dumais and her husband Leo of No. Berwick, 2 sisters, Marion Leveille of Springvale, Dorothy Briggs of Shapleigh, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM in Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
