Donna A. Almeida
Donna A. Almeida, 47, of Waterboro, died at her home on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Donna was born in East Providence, RI on January 15, 1961 to Gerald and Elizabeth Mellon LePain. She grew up in Riverside, RI and attended local schools, graduating from East Providence High School. She married her husband John in 1979 and together they raised two children. Mrs. Almeida had worked for the past 14 years as a community inclusion assistant. She got a lot of satisfaction working with the Waban residents and taking them out to be involved with the community. She had also worked for the past eight years providing daycare at the Sanford/Springvale Y.M.C.A. where she was also a member. She had been a communicant of St. Philips Church in Lyman. Donna was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying virtually any activity that got her out of the house. She particularly enjoyed going to the beach, snowmobiling, boating, riding motorcycles, hiking and going to the Franciscan Monastery in Kennebunkport. She was also an excellent cook and took great pride in preparing wonderful meals for her family. Mrs. Almeida was a very outgoing and loving person with many friends, always putting the needs of other people before her own. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed. Surviving are her husband, John Almeida of Waterboro; a son, Craig Almeida of Old Orchard Beach; a daughter, Heather Almeida of Biddeford; her mother-in-law, Eva Almeida of East Waterboro; a grandson, Shawn Almeida of Old Orchard Beach; a brother, Gerald LePain, Jr. of Connecticut; a sister, Debbie LePain of Rhode Island and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2008 at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at St. Philips Church in Lyman. Interment will take place in the spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Waban Projects, Inc., 5 Dunaway Drive, Sanford, ME 04073.
