Brian S. Adams, 69, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday November 15, 2015 at his home. He was born in Waterville on September 21, 1946 a son of the late Millard and Pollyanna (Sanborn) Adams. He proudly served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War. He served in the 3rd Battalion 1st Marines Recon Specialist Group.When he returned from Vietnam he was stationed as a guard at the Portsmouth Shipyard Jail. Brian was employed for the Maine Department of Transportation for 10 years. He then was employed by the Town of Ogunquit Highway Department. In 1991 Brian suffered a stroke which left him unable to continue working. Brian was a member of the Sanford AMVETS.Brian is survived by his wife, Patricia Carter Adams, children, McCormick Adams and his wife, Candice, Quincy Adams, Morgan Adams and his wife, Debra, Tracy Wilson and her husband, Kevin, stepchildren, Deborah Gilpatrick and her husband, Timothy, William (BJ) Carter and his wife, Sandra, Wendy Brown and her husband, Jason, Chuck Carter and his wife, Rebecca Carter, grandchildren, Elizabeth Adams, Brynne Adams, Gabriella Adams, Cassie Adams, Abby Wilson, step grandchildren, Cameron and his wife, Jocelyn, William Carter, Cody Brown, J-Lynne Brown, Tricia Hodgon and her husband, Kevin, Felicia Carter, Brandon Gilpatrick, Ashley Lestage and her husband, Maurice, step great grandchildren, Channel Gilpatrick, Emma Rose Hodgon, one brother, Stanley Adams as well as a nephew and nieces.A funeral service for Brian will be held on Saturday at 12noon at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. An hour of visitation will begin at 11AM until the time of the funeral service. Committal prayers with military honors will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the Lyman-Dayton Lions Club, 33 Swan Shores Drive, Lyman, ME 04002, or to the Sanford Vet Center, 628 Main Street, Springvale, ME 04083.Condolences may be expressed by clicking the condolences tab to the left.
