Ellen Abbott

WATERBORO Ellen Elizabeth Nellie Abbott 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Newton Center, Sanford following a short illness. She was born in Portland on September 27, 1918, a daughter of George C. & Maude H. Jones Noyce. She was educated in Portland schools and attended Deering High School.Ellen was a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge joining in 1952, and was also a Past District Deputy President. She was also a charter member of the Waterboro Fire Department Ladies Auxilary, an Eastern Star member of Alfred and a member of the 1918 club.Her husband Percy Abbott, Jr. died in 1985. Two sons, George and John, a brother George and a great granddaughter Amanda also died previously.Survivors are two daughters, Ann Abbott with whom she made her home, Audrey Flood and her husband Fred of Vernon, CT., her son Robert and his wife Dorothy of Gorham, her brother Frank Noyce and his wife Sue of Gorham, two daughters-in-law, Sharon Wright Abbott of Waterboro and Joanne Laprise Abbott of No. Berwick, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waterboro Rescue, 24 Town House Rd., Waterboro, ME 04030, or to a charity of one's choice.A graveside service will be conducted at Pine Grove cemetery (south) in the spring.Arrangements by the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME.To leave a message of condolences, please use the condolences tab to the left.
