Ruth M. Hartley, 81, of Springvale, died November 5 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford after a period of declining health.She was born in Sanford on January 28, 1931, the daughter of Linwood A. and Argie (Lord) Moulton, Sr., attended Alfred and Sanford schools, was a 1949 graduate of Sanford High School and attended Nasson College.Ruth worked her entire career as a medical technologist both at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH and at the H. D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford, retiring several years ago.Ruth loved horses. She raised many at her home and was a "Horse-Show Mom" assisting her daughter in various horse shows throughout the years.She loved the outdoors and loved to spend time with her husband Peanut at their camp in Eustis where they would go four-wheeleing, snowmobiling and enjoy the occasional cold beverage on the porch. An avid hunter, she was especially pleased to win the moose lottery in 2007 and, along with her team came home from Eustis with a 600 pound bull moose.She was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Hartley Lincourt and by a brother, Linwood A. Moulton, Jr.Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clarence E. "Peanut" Hartley, Jr., of Springvale, daughter Lynne Lincourt and her husband Joseph of Sanford, son Stephen L. Hartley and his wife Arline of Springvale, daughter Holly S. Hartley of Springvale, son William "Bill" Hartley of Springvale, daughter Marylu Williams and her husband Jack of Wingdale, NY, grandchildren and great grandchildren Joanna Duncan, her husband Derek and their children Marissa and Mitchell, Heather Fletcher, her husband Eric and their daughters Emily and Rachel, Melissa Hartley and her partner Paul Dubois, Steffan Morin, Brian S. Morin and Zachary Hartley.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2 to 4 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with an hour of visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
