Ralph E. Harrison

Ralph Edgar Harrison, of Sanford and Kennebunk, died at this home in Springvale on Tuesday January 8, with his family around him.Born on January 31, 1923, he was the second son of Edith (Wells) Harrison and Arthur Harrison. He attended Sanford Schools and joined the Navy along with other classmates in 1942. He met his wife Helen while stationed in Norfolk, VA where both were serving in the Navy. After the war, they moved to Sanford and worked in the Goodall Mills.Ralph worked for many years as a sales and service engineer for Kidder Press and Moore Business Forms.He was a member of the Preble Masonic Lodge in Sanford, the Scottish Rite and the Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston, and greatly enjoyed driving a car in parades with the Renegades.His greatest pleasure was cruising on the ocean in his boat The Hel-N-Gon in Kennebunk with family and friends.He was predeceased by his wife Helen, and is survived by a daughter, Anne Randall and her husband John of Springvale, son Arthur Harrison and his wife Susan of Plainfield NH, and son William Harrison and his wife Lela, of Springvale, four grandsons, Peter Harrison , Tom Shorthill, Christopher Shorthill and Todd Harrison as well as four great grandchildren, Andrew Harrison, Conor and Zoe Shorthill, Evan Harrison and a niece Patricia Pardon. He also leaves behind a cat beloved by both Ralph and Helen, L'il Bit.He was dearly beloved by his family and will be missed.Private services will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
