His decline affected by several years of health issues. He was predeceased by his parents Harry (Richard, Sr.) & Betty (Elizabeth Card) Harriman of Wells. Barry graduated from Wells High School in 1968 and worked most of his life at various jobs mostly to do with driving a truck of some sort. He worked on his uncle's farm, he was a mechanic & drove the tow truck, worked at a small lumber mill doing a variety of work plus delivering, he was an oil truck delivery man, and a sanitation engineer. I can hear Barry saying, "NO, I was the rubbish man, plain and simple, that was my job" or more exactly he would say "NO, I was a transfer truck driver - a trash collector" and he would say it with a big huge grin on his face. Barry also owned and worked in his own rubber coating business for some time, in later years. He was very active and involved with several Fraternal Organizations: Odd Fellows, Cantons, Knights of Pythias and Grange. He held many offices and positions in the various organizations he belonged to, including holding some offices on the state level. Barry is survived by 3 siblings and their spouses: Richard, Jr., & Sherry Harriman of Sanford; Barbara (Harriman) Roberts of Waterboro; and Robert & Mona Harriman of Wells; many nephews and nieces, great nephews & nieces, even a few great, greats and lots of friends, many of whom he would call very close. Special thanks to his nephew Dennis and long time friend, David, who often took Barry to do things and get him places. Barry also talked of the very special bond he had with his Godson "Little Barry" (no relation). He cared for him as strongly as family blood. Barry became part of a new type of close-knit family group while at York County Dialysis and he wanted to say thank-you to this wonderful group of folks for all their care, kindnesses and assistance they gave so warmly. Also, a very heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their skilled and compassionate care during his time there. "To My Family & Friends: 'I've led a good life. Life's been good to me. And you know what, YES, I would do it all over again, just the same way! Be happy and merry'.
