Kenneth L. Harriman
Kenneth L. Harriman, Sr., 95, of Berwick, died on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Kenneth was born on February 28, 1924 to Henry and Marion (Sturtevant) Harriman in Berwick where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Berwick High School. He attended NYA School in Quoddy, Maine and proudly served in the Navy Air Force during World War II. In 1944 he married Iva Harriman and together they raised four sons and shared 56 years of marriage until her death in 2000.During his working life Kenneth was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard before retiring in 1988 with over 31 years of government service. He was a 69 year member of Patrons of Husbandry Grange #475 in East Lebanon, the York Pomona Grange #14, the Maine State Grange and the National Grange. He was also a member of the Echo Lodge of Odd Fellows IOOF of Berwick, the Agamenticus Encampment #15 of South Berwick, a founding member of the Harriman Family Association and had been a member of the former Berwick Full Gospel Church. Kenneth was a quiet man with a great sense of humor and always enjoyed participating in the many associations that he belonged to. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Kenneth was predeceased by his wife Iva and by a son, Thomas Harriman.Surviving are three sons, David A. Harriman and his wife Suntok of Lebanon, Kenneth L. Harriman, Jr. and his wife Jayne of Saco and Stephen Harriman and his wife Rainey of Biddeford; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Harriman of Sanford; four grandchildren, Lori Bennett, Kathy Meserve, Shannon L'Heureux and James Arlemagne; eight great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 20th at the Evergreen Cemetery located on Cemetery Road in Berwick.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
