George W. Hanson

George W. Hanson Sr., 77, of North Berwick, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.He was born on June 23, 1940 to Clyde and Althea (Fletcher) Hanson in Sanford. He grew up in North Berwick and attended school there.During his working life, he was a roofer and was employed with Hall Brothers Roofing. He was also the Lead Setup Man at Janco Electronics, Inc. in Rollinsford, NH.He married Ruth Dudley and together they raised two children in North Berwick.George enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors riding his lawn tractor. He liked his frequent trips to Walmart, talking daily with his CB radio friends, and spending time with his family.He was also always very helpful, especially when it came to home improvement projects with his neighbors and family.George is predeceased by his parents, his wife Ruth Hanson who passed in 1995, three sisters, Phyllis Davis, Margaret Mason, Donna Hanson, and a brother Richard Hanson.Survivors include a daughter Irene Meissner and her husband of Jonathan of Wells, a son George Hanson Jr., of Rochester, NH, grandchildren Kayla Meissner, Wanitta Milinski, Emily Milinski, and Mallory Walsh, three sisters, Virgie Goodrich, of Berwick, Nancy Barthelemy, of Eliot, and Janet Hanson, of Somersworth, NH, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 8, from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the North Berwick Community Center at 266 Lebanon Rd., North Berwick, MEArrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making a donation in George's name to Gosnell Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Rd., Scarborough, ME 04074.
