Ida Guillemette
Ida Guillemette, 89, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Newton Center in Sanford following a lengthy illness.Mom was surrounded by her loving family. She left this world peacefully to join her beloved husband, Leo Paul who had passed away 11 weeks prior. Together they shared 68 years of marriage and raised five children.She was born in Sanford on June 5, 1925, the daughter of Conrad and Emelia (Provencher) Roux. She spent her childhood on the Roux family farm in Alfred where she grew up with nine siblings.Mom was truly a classy, shy, humble and beautiful, deeply caring woman. She loved every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always made a point to make each one of them feel very special. One of her favorite activities was taking care of her gorgeous perennial gardens and using her lawnmower. Mom had a great talent for sewing quilts, crocheting afghans, painting and making porcelain dolls. She had a fabulous doll collection that she was very proud of. Mom will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and will be dearly missed.She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Paul; a son, Donald who passed away in 2008 and seven brothers, Leo, Willie, Aime, Conrad, Raymond, Eddy and Hector Roux.Mom is survived by four children, twin daughters, Elaine Marby and her husband Andy and Rachel Titherington and her husband Geoffrey, Roger Guillemette and his wife Jackie and Jeanne Palmer and her husband Davy; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Guillemette; a sister, Simonne Bergeron and her husband Richard; a brother, Albert Roux and his wife Gerry; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of the Newton Center who gave exceptional care to Mom and Dad. We appreciate the professional service rendered to our parents during their 2 1/2 years there.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 15th.
