Richard M. Guilfoy

Richard M. Guilfoy, 59, of Waterville, died July 1 in Waterville after a long illness.He was born in Weymouth, MA on June 17, 1951, a son of Edward L. and Phyllis (Brown) Guilfoy.He was a graduate of Franklin (NH) High School and earned his college degree in California. Richard was a veteran of the US Army.Throughout his school and military years Richard was a long distance runner. He held records at his high school and once ran a time of 2:31 in the Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii.He was employed as an auditor with the federal government in several capacities, retiring some years ago due to ill health.His family recalled his generosity and sense of humor.Survivors include his father of Sanford, a brother Michael Guilfoy of Concord, NH, and a sister Nancy Clark, her husband Russell and their children Tom and Elaine of Sanford.A period of visitation will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Saturday at the Notre Dame Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Springvale. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
