Elsie Guertin

Elsie M. Guertin, 79, a lifelong resident of Sanford, died February 22 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford after a long illness.She was born in Sanford on December 18, 1927, the daughter of Thomas and Leona (Thibodeau) Michaud and attended the former St. Ignatius School.She was employed over the years with the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills, Wyandotte Industries in Rochester, NH, and Brooks Woolen Mills, retiring in 1986.She was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church.She was predeceased by her parents, by her brother Ernest Michaud and by her sister, Florence Michaud Grover.Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Philip J. Guertin of Sanford, her son Thomas L. Guertin and his wife Merrill of Raceland, LA, her daughter Elaine Sevigny and her husband Richard of Sanford, her brother Raymond T. Michaud and his wife Gayle of Springvale, and the following grandchildren and great grandchildren: Lisa Guertin Gomberg and her daughter Raven of San Antonio, TX, Karen Sevigny Williams, her daughters Hope and Rachel of Sanford, Michelle Sevigny Gagnon, her husband Patrick and their children Nicholas, Nathan and Madelyn, of Rochester, NH, Thomas Sevigny, his wife Julie and their children Alex and Tyler, of Sanford, Jimmy Sevigny, his wife Michelle, and their children Bryce and Kadence of Sanford, Raylynn Lapeyrouse Schoner and her daughters Madeline and Marcella of Piscataway, NJ.Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford.
