Carole Ann Durgin Greely, 70, of Sanford, formerly of Kennebunk, beloved and cherished Daughter, Wife, Mother, Nana passed away on Aug. 19, 2012, at 5 p.m., after a lengthy illness of cancer. She was born on March 20, 1942, the youngest of John C. A. (Jack) Durgin and Mary Ellen Galvin Durgin. She was a graduate of Kennebunk High School, Class of 1960. She studied Nurses Training at Mercy Hospital, Portland.In February 1963, Carole Ann entered the U.S. Army serving in the Military USO, and was honorably discharged February 1966. She was the first female Maine Turnpike Toll Collector. She was known for her vibrant personality, bright smile, loving nature, and beautiful singing voice. She had been devout and charitable to people she knew, simply acquainted with or didn't really know in her faith, military, civilian careers, as a Mother, Wife, and Nana, she gave us a true magical meaning of God and life. Carole Ann was predeceased by both parents. Carole Ann leaves her beloved husband, George R. Greely; loving daughter, Anne Marie Mustapha, who with her husband Morgan gave her four grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Seamus and Megan Mustapha; her compassionate brother, Pastor John M. Durgin and sister- in-law Nina Lincoln Durgin, with nieces Lisa and husband Bob Conn, Lorilee and husband Mark Reuillard, and Shawna and husband Doug Helman; grandnephews and niece, Nicholas, Alexander and Spencer Reuillard and Molly Ann Helman; cousins who looked upon her as a special cousin, Byron (Chuck) Leseur and Barry Doughty; and special nephew and niece, Harry and Sharon Rush. She also leaves cousins Catherine (Tiny) and Ann Catherine Bonis, Mary and Margaret Whalen, Nancy and Don Townsend, George and Julie Galvin, Durgin relatives in Fryeberg, Jamo and Provenzano relatives in Millinocket.A Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Joseph's Church, Portland, before an Honorable Military funeral at 12 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.Donations can be madein lieu of flowers to: Cancer Care Center of York County or Maine Center for Cancer Medicine27 Industrial Ave.Sanford, Maine 04073Carll-Heald & Black Funeal Home in Springvale is assisting the family with arrangements.
