L. Russell Goodwin

L. Russell Goodwin, 92, of Lakeland Florida died in Lakeland on April 24, 2016.Russell was born in Sanford on October 22, 1923 to Leon R. and Ellen (Stokes) Goodwin. He worked for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring as the staff yard submarine repair manager. He had been a member and Past Master at the the Springvale Lodge of Masons and a member of the Maine Consistory.Surviving are his son, Robert Goodwin and his wife Mary of Billerica, Massachusetts; two grandsons, Michael Goodwin and his wife Linda of Merrimack, New Hampshire and Kevin Goodwin and his wife Joanna of Merrimac, Massachusetts; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Shea, Summer, Lia and Gwen; a brother, Roger Goodwin and his wife Priscilla of Zephyrhills, Florida; two nieces, Nancy Olka and her husband Gary of Enfield, Connecticut and Phyllis McKenney of Sanford, Maine and many grandnephews and grandnieces.A graveside service will be held at10:30 AM on Saturday, May 21st at the Oakdale Cemetery located on Twombley Road in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolences for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
