Marie Stella Goodrich, 91, of Sanford, died March 17 at the Newton Center in Sanford after a lengthy illness.She was born in Winslow on June 26, 1915, a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Plisga) Kibbin and was proud of her Polish heritage.She came to Sanford as a young woman to work in the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills as a weaver. She also worked at McLellan's Shoe and as a waitress at the Plaza Restaurant. As her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mom. She did a lot of babysitting in her home as well. She enjoyed sewing clothing and crafts and to create patchwork quilts and potholders. Family members recalled that she was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to cook, bake pies and bread, can vegetables, pickles and fruit, and to garden. She was loved by everyone. A devout catholic, she was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church.Her husband, Raymond V. Goodrich, died in 1991. She was also predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.Survivors include 3 children, Louise Dupont and her husband Edward, Raymond J. Goodrich, Jr. and his wife Linda, and Felix S. Goodrich all of Sanford, 5 grandchildren with whom she enjoyed spending "special time", Peter Ainsworth of Springvale, Donna Goodrich of Nevada, Patrick Ainsworth of Springvale, Sharon Gourley and her husband Thomas of Nevada, Michael Goodrich of Springvale, 2 great grandchildren, Gianna Gourley of Nevada, newborn Izabella M. Goodrich of Springvale, 3 sisters, Helen Kibbin, Rose Pelotte and Louise Prescott, all of Winslow, and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 AM in St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.Condolences may be expressed by using the Condolences tab at left.
