Henry Germon

Henry G. Germon, 76, of Acton, passed away suddenly on Friday August 3, 2007, after a brief stay at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born on August 5, 1930 in Winsted, CT., a son of Howard and Dorothy (Gremler) Heyne.Hank graduated from the New York State Maritime College, 1952 with a B.S. in Marine Engineering, and was a Commissioned Ensign USNR. He married the former Ann Nutter, daughter of F.E. and Marion Nutter of Sanford in 1952. Hank and Ann had three children, Howard Heyne Germon of Southbury, CT, Everett Nutter Germon of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Barbara Kagan of Darien, IL, and seven grandchildren.Hank served in the U.S. Navy at Portsmouth in the AGSS 569 Albacore and GUPPY 2A programs. His Korean duty was a 16 month assignment as Executive Officer of the USS Heron. He completed Naval duty as Electronics Officer, Boston Naval Shipyard. Hank's hobbies were flying (instrument and seaplane ratings), boating, traveling, computers, photography, and maintaining his beautiful home and grounds on Mousam Lake.A marketing career with General Motors and Union Carbide Corporation followed military service. Hank retired in Acton and Zephyrhills, FL; his wife, Ann, passed away in 1997 after 46 years of happy marriage.In January 2001, he married his second wife, the former June Sinning. June was a friend and neighbor in Florida who had lost her husband of 50 years. Hank and June enhanced each other's lives in their later years. June had three living children, Mark Sinning of Grand Rapids, MI, Karen Downs of LaJolla, CA, and Diane Buckerfield of Harrison Township, MI, and five grandchildren. Additional survivors are two brothers, Richard W. Germon of Acton, and Howard Varley Germon of Dunnellon, Fl.Visiting hours will be on Monday August 6 from 6 to 8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, August 7, at 10am at the Acton Congregational Church in Acton, followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
