Cecile Genest
Cecile B. Genest, 88, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away on Monday January 9, 2012 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. She was born in Sanford on September 23, 1923 a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Vezina) Boutin. She attended local Sanford schools.A lifelong communicant of Holy Family parish she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne as well as L'Union St. Jean Baptiste. She had worked at the former Sanford Goodall Textile Mills. When they closed she went to work at the Sanford Dress Shop. When she retired in 1990 she had been employed by the Sanford School Department for 29 years. She will be remembered for her famous fudge which she made for the local parish fairs.She is predeceased by her husband, Rene J. Genest who passed away in 1995, two brothers, Emile Boutin and John Boutin.She is survived by two sons, Gerald J. Genest and his wife, Joann of Sanford, Leo R. Genest and his wife, Karen of Seattle, WA, two sisters, Jeanette Legere of Wells and Arizona, Therese Cormier of Sanford, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Per her wishes there will be no visiting hours.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11AM at St. Therese of Liseux Parish, Holy Family Church.
