Simonne Garand

Simonne M. Garand, 81, of Sanford, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday August 25, 2009. She was born in Sherbrooke, Canada on June 12, 1928, a daughter of Roch and Laure (Dubois) Cote.In 1956 she moved to the United States after marrying her husband, Joseph Arsene Emilien Garand. Before settling in Maine in 1975, she was an Air Force wife, supporting her husband's military career across the globe.Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Joseph A. Garand of Sanford, one daughter, Charlotte Garand, two sons, Roch Garand and Antoine (A.J.) Garand, one granddaughter, Emily Garand Williams, one grandson, Alexander Garand, one sister, Madelaine Cote Giguere and her husband, Omer of Sherbrooke, as well as nieces and nephews.At her request funeral services will be private.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route 1, Suite One, Scarborough, ME 04074-9925.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.To leave a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
