Eleanor E. Gallant, 80, of Sanford, died on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care Facility in Sanford.Eleanor was born in Central Valley New York to George and Elizabeth (Ward) Crum on July 24, 1933. She grew up in Highland Falls, New York and attended local schools, graduating from Highland Falls High School in 1953. In 1963 she moved to Sanford where she would raise her two sons and spend the rest of her life. She was employed at Ames Department Store for over 20 years and went on to work as a clerk at Shaw's Distribution Center in Wells where she stayed for over 10 years until she retired.Eleanor enjoyed doing arts and crafts, painting, gardening, antiquing, refinishing antique furniture and cooking. She was an animal lover and was especially fond of cats. She enjoyed keeping in contact with family and old friends over the internet and also like researching genealogy. Eleanor loved being around people and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed.Eleanor was predeceased by a sister, Hilda Sullivan.Surviving are two sons, Paul Gallant and his wife Lori of Sanford and Michael Gallant and his wife Robin of Sanford; a niece, Sheila Bergeron and her husband Dean of Lyman; seven grandchildren, Tyler Gallant, Cory Gallant, Ian Gallant, Jenny Gallant, Kayla Mondville, Anthony Gallant and Allison Gallant and many extended family members in the Southern New York area.Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with memorial prayers being said at 7:45 PM on Friday, April 25th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Animal Welfare Society, Inc, P.O.
