Francis B. Conley Sr. (Frank) 78 of Springvale, Maine, held the hand of his soulmate & wife while surrounded by close family as he peacefully entered eternal life on January 30, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. He was born in Lewiston on September 14, 1941 a son of the late Thomas J. and Lena (Levesque) Conley.He was a member of the NRA and the WWGOA. His favorite hobby was woodworking, and he was an avid collector of tools. Besides spending time with the love of his life Nancy, his second favorite place to be was in his workshop. He was a member of the Marine reserves in High School and enlisted in the US Army after graduating in 1960. He completed basic and advanced basic training at Fort Dix, NJ in the Airborne Armored Division. He then served in the 3rd Infantry Division while stationed in Bamberg Germany and served guard Duty when the Berlin Wall was built between East & West Germany. In 1963, he was honorably discharged with Corporal rank and was very proud to have served his country.He retired in December 1999 from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, CT after 36 years of employment. During his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time at Home Depot in Wallingford, CT. Both in his spare time & after leaving Home Depot after 5yrs, he enjoyed renovating the home he & his wife bought in Springvale, Maine where they planned to live out their retirement years. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas J.and Lena (Levesque) Conley, one brother Richard Conley.He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Thibodeau) Conley of Springvale, his children, Frank Conley Jr. & wife Marylou of East Haven, CT, Dina Conley of Cape Coral, FL, Patty Conley of Cape Coral, FL, Erin Elsdon and husband Bill of Cape Coral, FL, Chris Conley & wife Laura of East Berlin, CT, Michaela Handy & husband Michael of Meriden, CT, step-daughters: Tonya Dennis of Whitsett, NC, Melanie Kretzer & Husband Darrin of Chambersburg, PA, Jessica Smith of Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Billy Elsdon & partner Patrick Spurrier, Paul Elsdon, Peter Elsdon & fiance Telsea Fey, Marina Callahan & husband John, Adam Brendon Conley, Ryan Dennis, Tyler, Alexa, Haylee, Douglas & Savannah Kretzer. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan Conley & Dollie Simmons, Michael Conley, Kathy Conley, Kevin Conley, Richard Conley.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, February 4th from 4 to 7PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
