Deland, FL-Jerome J. Forest, 80, of Woodland Towers, Deland FL, and formerly of Sanford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7. Jerome was born August 22, 1928 in Sanford to Philip and Aldea (Clement) Forest, one of eight children.Jerome was a devout Catholic and outstanding educator. He attended St. Peter's Church where he was a faithful and supportive parishioner. He spent 26 years in the religious life as a teaching brother in the order of the Brothers of Christian Instruction. He acquired a BS and MS in Languages and distinguished himself as a top-notch teacher of youth with assignments in Waterville and Biddeford, ME , Plattsburgh, NY, and Cantin, OH. Later he re-educated himself and worked for GTE in Algeria, North Africa and Tehran, Iran, retiring in 1993 as Lead Instructor of Electronics at Wentworth Institute, Boston, MA. His final employment was as Adjunct Professor of Languages at Stetson University, Deland, FL.Jerome was predeceased by his parents, brothers Maurice, Raymond and Denis. He is survived by his loving sister Yolande A. Williamson, a Retired U.S. Navy Nurse, who cared for him in his final years, brother Francis, both of Deland ; brothers Bertrand of Melbourne, FL ; Claude of Springvale and many loving relatives, friends and former students.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Chapel in Alfred on Saturday, September 27, at 11 :00 AM. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford.
