Conrad J. Dumont, 89, of Sidney, formerly of Sanford, died on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Maine General Hospital in Waterville.Conrad was born on April 19, 1922 in Trois Pistole, Quebec to Joseph and Apauline (Parent) Dumont. His family moved to Maine when he was a year old where he grew up and attended school. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne during World War II. After the war he married Evelina Prefontaine and together they raised four children.Conrad worked in the textile mills in Sanford and Springvale for many years. He enjoyed play cards, cribbage, and particularly enjoyed going dancing with his wife. He had been a communicant of St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and pepere and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Conrad was predeceased by a son, Alfred Petrin Jr.Surviving are three children, Cecile Jellerson and her husband Raymond of Virginia Beach, VA, Daniel Dumont and his wife Diane of Berwick and Rosalie Masure of Sidney, ME; three sisters, Jeannette Nelson of Sanford, Simone Fortier of Sanford and Lillian Couture of Sanford; best friends, Perry and May Paradis of Sanford and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 11th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visitation at 11:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located at 66 North Avenue in Sanford.
