Donald P. DuBois, 84 of Sanford, Maine passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Togus Maine on July 19th 2015. He was the loving husband of Theresa Leroux DuBois to whom he was married for 62 years.Donald was born in Sanford, Maine on July 29, 1930 to Donat Napolean DuBois and the former Elizabeth McGrath. Donald grew up in Sanford where he attended local schools. In 1948, his senior year at Sanford High School Donald joined the United States Navy where he proudly served for 4 years. In 1953 he married Theresa and together they raised 5 children. Donald was employed by General Dynamics in Groton, CT for thirty years and retired to New Smyrna, Florida returning for the summer to enjoy his home in Shapleigh on Square Pond and on Moose Head Lake in Maine. Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife. He loved to spend time with his children and his many grandchildren. He particularly enjoyed spending many hours teaching his grandchildren to fish, build puzzles. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, recitals and graduations. Donald was predeceased by his parents and his sister Doris MacGregor from Sanford, Maine.In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 children, his son Steve Dubois and his wife Jean DuBois of Sonoma, CA; his daughter Debbie Powers and her husband Tim Powers of Wells, Maine; his daughter Donna Dubois-Miller of York Maine, and his daughter Mona Downey and her husband James Downey of Cheshire, CT; his son John DuBois of Griswold, CT. Donald is also survived by eleven grandchildren Steven Dubois, Lesley Quinlan, Kyle Powers, Erin Heigelmann, Trevor Powers, Courtney Powers, Mariah and Ali Downey, Wesley and William Miller and Jackie DuBois and 7 great grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22nd at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, located on Payne Street in Springvale. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.The entire DuBois family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the VA Togus for their kind and compassionate care over the years.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
