Monique S. P. (Lemieux) Downs, 55 of Springvale, Maine passed away in her home on December 28, 2019. She was much loved by many in her family and community and touched many lives along her journey.Monique grew up in the Sanford-Biddeford area and graduated from Biddeford High School. After raising her boys, Christopher and Matheau, whom she was most proud; Monique worked hard and took the time she needed to find out what was her passion to pursue in her career. Monique continued her education with a bachelor's degree in Art and Psychology from the University of Southern Maine and last spring graduated from Lesley University with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Expressive Arts Therapies/Art Therapy. The culmination of her hard work and dedication was when she recently received her credentials as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC-C) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P). Monique was a humanitarian, working fiercely to help those who lost their voice or lost their way through music, art, dance and play and she wanted nothing more than to help others. Monique had a lot of interests such as: an athlete and active boxer until her knees wouldn't let her continue, swimming, traveling, being a scholar and all forms of art. She loved to be silly and get on the floor with children and play and could talk to anyone and make them feel special in one conversation. She was a talent in her photography, painting, and drawing and was never afraid to try many other types of art. Monique has left behind many including her mother, Claudette and stepfather, Robert Bisson, sisters, Tressa Lemieux and Starr Bisson, her brothers, Karl Lemieux, Mark Lemieux, Danny Lemieux, David Lemieux and David Bisson. Monique also left behind her son, Christopher Downs and his girlfriend, Alexandria Metayer and son, Matheau Downs and his wife, Jessica Downs and their daughter, Monique's granddaughter, Jaylee as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
